Do I need to be fit to practice Aikido?

Not particularly, it is a non-competative martial art so you can train within your capabilities. It is a physical activity so your fitness will develop and improve with regular Aikido training.

What do I need to practice Aikido?

Traditionally Aikidokas wear a Judo or Karate suit. For beginners it is fine to practice in loose fitting clothes like a track-suit.

Judo and Karate suits for adults start at about £20 and can be obtained from any good sports or martial arts retailer such as Leicester based Martial Art Superstore.

How much does it cost?

There are no membership fees for the Leicester Aikido Club but you will be obliged to join the British Aikido Federation. BAF membership is currently £30 per annum which includes personal accident and public liability insurance,a requirement for practicing any martial art.

Session fees are £5 per session
